To secure the WordPress admin login, use a plugin that adds two-factor authentication, limits login attempts, and blocks bad bots. Popular options include Wordfence, Solid Security, and Limit Login Attempts Reloaded. Also use strong passwords, keep WordPress updated, and remove unused admin accounts.
If you run a WordPress website, protecting your WordPress Admin login Security should be a top priority. Cybercriminals constantly target the default /wp-login.php and /wp-admin pages using brute-force attacks, bot traffic, credential stuffing, and unauthorized login attempts.
Using a reliable WordPress Admin login Security Plugin protects your admin dashboard, user accounts, login pages, and sensitive website data from unauthorized access, malware, and automated attacks.

Key Features of Shield WP Admin Pro Plugin
1. Custom Login URL Protection
Hackers already know the default WordPress login URLs such as /wp-login.php and /wp-admin.
Shield WP Admin lets you create a custom login URL and hide the WordPress login page from bots, scanners, and automated brute-force attacks. This greatly reduces brute-force login attempts and unauthorized access requests.
Example:
Instead of: yourwebsite.com/wp-login.php
Use: yourwebsite.com/my-secure-login
This simple feature adds an extra layer of WordPress admin security and login protection.
2. Brute-Force Attack Protection
Brute-force attacks use automated bots to test thousands of username and password combinations.
Shield WP Admin offers advanced login attempt limiting and intelligent rate limiting to automatically block suspicious IP addresses after multiple failed login attempts.
Features include:
Failed login attempt limits
Temporary IP blocking
Login cooldown periods
Suspicious activity detection
Login security alerts
This helps block WordPress brute-force login attacks before attackers gain unauthorized access to your admin dashboard.
3. Google reCAPTCHA Integration
Bots frequently attempt fake logins and submit spam on websites.
Shield WP Admin integrates Google reCAPTCHA v2 and v3 to verify human users and block automated bots on the login page.
Benefits include:
Reduced spam login attempts
Bot prevention
Better admin security
Improved login protection
Lower server resource usage
4. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Passwords alone are no longer sufficient to secure WordPress websites.
Shield WP Admin supports Two-Factor Authentication using apps like:
Google Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
With 2FA enabled, users must verify their identity with a temporary code and their password.
This improves account security and prevents unauthorized admin access, even if passwords are compromised.
5. Email OTP Authentication
The plugin provides secure email OTP verification with integrated SMTP support.
Users receive a one-time verification code by email during login, providing an additional layer of WordPress authentication security to prevent unauthorized access.
Shield WP Admin includes a powerful malware scanner that detects:
Malicious code injections
Backdoors
Suspicious PHP functions
Hidden malware
Unsafe scripts
The scanner supports:
Manual malware scans
Scheduled scans
Detailed scan reports
File exclusion options
Real-time alerts
This helps website owners quickly identify malware infections, suspicious files, and potential security threats before they affect website performance or search engine optimization.

Unauthorized file modifications are a common sign of malware infection or a compromised website.
Shield WP Admin monitors core WordPress files, themes, and plugins for unexpected changes.
Features include:
File integrity monitoring
Scheduled scans
Instant alerts
File change tracking
Security reporting
This ensures your website files remain secure and unchanged.
8. Backup and Restore System
The Pro version includes full WordPress backup and restore functionality.
You can create:
Full website backups

Security hardening options include:

These WordPress hardening features reduce attack surfaces, improve login security, secure authentication systems, and strengthen overall website security.
10. Login Analytics & Audit Logs
Monitor login activity and security events directly from the dashboard.
The plugin provides:
Login analytics
User login tracking
IP address monitoring
Audit logs
Security event reports
Device tracking
Real-time admin activity logs
These insights help administrators quickly identify suspicious behavior.
How Shield WP Admin Protects Your Website

Shield WP Admin lets you replace the default login URL with a custom, secure login path.
This helps:
Hide your WordPress login page

If attackers repeatedly enter incorrect passwords, Shield WP Admin automatically detects suspicious activity and limits the number of login attempts.
The plugin can:

Temporarily lock suspicious IPs
Reduce brute-force attacks
Prevent automated password guessing
This helps secure WordPress admin accounts against unauthorized access attempts.
3. Google reCAPTCHA Verifies Real Users

reCAPTCHA protection helps:
Verify human users
Prevent fake logins
Stop spam bots
Reduce server abuse
Only legitimate users can continue to the login process.
4. Admin Receives Security Alerts
When suspicious activity, malware, or unauthorized file changes are detected, Shield WP Admin immediately notifies the administrators.
